Most of us expect to end up driving a cheap hatchback when we finally pass our driving test. However, one learner driver who’s about to take her driving test this month has just won herself a Porsche Taycan 4S worth over £100k.
Salisbury-based Phoebe Kneller, 23, had entered a Omaze Million Pound House Draw and won an ‘Early Bird Prize’ – a Porsche. Not bad for a monthly subscription of £10, which she’d only started two months previously.
Best day EVER
Phoebe has described the whole day as the best one of her life after also being told she’d landed her dream job as a healthcare assistant on the same day.
Not bad considering the day had started off badly. She and her boyfriend, Josh, were on holiday in Tenerife and had woken up to discover a giant cockroach sharing their hotel room with them.
“It was a pretty terrible start to the day, but winning a £100,000 car was quite the turn around.”

Packing a punch
The Porsche itself packs twin electric motors, delivering 526bhp, a 0-62 time of 3.7 seconds and a range of over 250 miles. Phoebe’s version also features extras such as the Performance Battery pack that pushes up the value of the car even further.
Importantly, the Taycan is regarded by motoring experts as one of the finest sports EVs on the market today – if not the best – especially in its recently-released second generation guise.
Big plans
However, Phoebe won’t find out just how good the EV is as she intends to sell it to buy a used car and fund a downpayment on a house as well as possibly pay for a trip to Jamaica.
Also, insurance costs would be, let’s say, substantial once Phoebe does pass her test. The (very) ballpark figure for insurance for a newly qualified driver with her experience, age and location could be anything up to £12,000 a year.
Good cause
Porsche or no Porsche, Phoebe is thrilled to have helped raise money for good causes that benefit from Omaze’s prize draws: “Even if I hadn’t won anything, I like to donate what I can to help good causes, so supporting a charity through an Omaze draw still feels like a win.”
In the meantime, if you’re feeling lucky, you might want to enter the latest Omaze competition, which currently has a Mercedes G-Class worth over £125,000 up for grabs. Good luck with those insurance quotes though!
